Everyone in the U.S. was pretty excited for the big screen adaptation release of The Little Prince after years of anticipation. The something terrible happened. Paramount has dropped the film from distribution a week before it was scheduled to release in America.
Mark Osborne’s CG, stop-motion animated film based on Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s beloved 1943 children’s book has already been released internationally to much acclaim. Why Paramount dropped it just ONE week before release is a little shocking. Paramount has not stated why they dropped the film, but it’s still scheduled for a wide release in Canada on March 18.
Osborne shared the news via Twitter on Friday.
“Many thanks to everyone for the outpouring of love and support in these strange times,”Osborne said. “As it turns out, the much anticipated U.S. release of this special and unique film will have to be anticipated just a little bit more.”
Osborne followed up his original tweet by revealing that the film would be released to American audiences later this year.
