The official Safe Kids Day presented by Nationwide will take place this year on April 24, 2016. The worldwide event brings together celebrities, families and the community, to celebrate kids and raise awareness and funds to prevent childhood injuries through the life-saving programs of Safe Kids Worldwide.
For the event, numerous celebrities and athletes are joining the effort such as Mark Wahlberg, Gwen Stefani, Sir Elton John and more are being named “Celebrity Heroes” for Safe Kids Day 2016.
Safe Kids Worldwide is a nonprofit organization working to prevent childhood injury, the number one cause of death for children in the United States. Throughout the world, almost one million children die of an injury each year, and almost every one of these tragedies is preventable. Safe Kids works with an extensive network of more than 400 coalitions in the U.S. and with partners in more than 25 countries to reduce traffic injuries, drownings, falls, burns, poisonings and more. Since 1988, Safe Kids has helped reduce the U.S. childhood death rate from unintentional injury by 60 percent. Working together, we can do much more for kids everywhere. For the event, Nationwide is committed to protecting what matters most to its members. Through its Make Safe Happen program, Nationwide aims to reduce the number one cause of childhood deaths –accidental injuries. The program offers caregivers and children tools and resources to make homes safer including a Make Safe Happen app available for iOS and Android.
