Disney and the famed princess from the Disney Princess line-up have always been filled with well-rounded characters, charming tales, magic and heart. From the original princess herself Snow White to a more recent addition like Rapunzel fans of fairy-tales have a wide variety of stories and characters to cheer for and watch time and time again.
With the Disney Channel primer of the massively successful Frozen, the upcoming film Moana Disney Princess have really been in the forefront of Disney minds this year more so than ever. There is a lot going on now and even in the nearing future for princess from the house of mouse.
In addition to the actual films, Disney Princess line has also been making head-line with the rights to dolls and toys being removed from Mattel and given to Hasbro. Whom has already launched a massive assortment of dolls, toys and other goods for the eleven princesses. All of which we have covered here at BSCKids with our Toy Fair coverage.
Yet as exciting as the films are (new released and re-release for anniversaries) as well as new toys and goods for the famous eleven girls, nothing has me half as excited as the new comic book series from publisher Joe Books. Disney Princess is the first regular comic series from the publisher. And it is a grand way to set the stage for what fans can assume is the start of a brilliant comics to come.
Simply titled Disney Princess the comic series offers short strip comics featuring all eleven of the Disney Princess from Belle, to Tiana, to Ariel…and you get the point. Each strip offers a short story centering on the respective princess and characters from her film. They are clever, and every much so endearing to the point you cannot help but to grin.
As sweet and enjoyable the actual writing is the art is magnificent. And perhaps the very core reason I could not wait to get my hands on a copy. If you have never heard of the artist Amy Mebberson, or rather seen any of her work, I have no idea what you are doing. She has done a wide range of work on both an animation level as well as comics. All of which can be found on her web-site and social media accounts. Following her is a must.
Outside of doing work for comics she also has her own fancomic series, Pocket Princess. Short comics featuring all of the Disney Princess as well as Elsa and Anna from Frozen as the thirteen girls coexist together and have humor filled tales. Much like the Disney Princess comics Pocket Princess shares the gorgeous art and witty writing, but it also offers great dynamics between the characters. Where else can you see Elsa, Rapunzel, Jasmine, Snow White and Cinderella cosplay as the emotions from Inside Out? Watch the princesses have a poker game and much more.
As the first non cinestory or treasury release from Joe Books Disney Princess proves to be a great must-read comic that has issues flying off the shelves. Everything about it works so well and it hits all the right notes. A true must for any Disney fan of all ages.

At $2.99 a issue you get a lot of grand storytelling that leaves you wanting more.
