Demi Lovato Is The Voice of Smurfette In New “Get Smurfy” Movie

Demi Lovato is getting all smurfed up as she will be the voice of Smurfette in Sony Pictures Animation’s new and upcoming movie, “Get Smurfy.”

Alongside Lovato will be Rainn Wilson, who will voice the evil wizard Gargamel, and Mandy Patinkin, who will be the voice of the one and only Papa Smurf. “Get Smurfy” will act as a reboot rather than a sequel to the 2011 film “The Smurfs” and the 2013 film “The Smurfs 2.”

In the other two films, singer Katy Perry voiced the lovely Smurfette. Now, Lovato, who already has an amazing singing voice, will be offering her talented voice to the film as Perry’s replacement.

Sony made the thrilling announcement of the all star cast in celebration with Global Smurfs Day on Sunday, June 14. Directed by Kelly Asbury and produced by Jordan Kerner, the film will feature an animation style reminiscent of Smurfs creator Peyo Culliford’s original comics. However, this time, the film will solely be a computer animated film unlike the other two which were a hybrid of live action and computer animation.

It is a different direction the film is going in compared to the other two. With no real live actors, the film will act like a straight up cartoon but that doesn’t mean it won’t be good! There are many movies that are solely computer-animated that are entertaining and take us along on the adventure of the characters. I have no doubt that the new Smurf movie will take viewers on a new adventure with the Smurfs.

According to Variety, the film “will follow Smurfette and her fellow blue creatures as they search the Enchanted Forest for the fabled Smurfs village. The film will answer some long-held questions about the Smurfs, including why there’s only one girl among them.” Another question that comes to mind is “Do Smurfs only come in the color blue?”

As a girl, I would love to find out why there is only one girl among the Smurfs. Girl power to Smurfette for dealing with all the boys!

The popularity of the Smurfs was probably not foreseen before the first film premiered. Now, mention the word Smurf and no one will mistake what that is. It seems like it was only a matter of until the next Smurfs movie.

Although we will not be physically seeing Lovato in the new Smurf movie, we will be not only hearing her amazing and fun voice in the animated film but we will also be seeing her as a guest star in the new TV series, “From Dusk Till Dawn.”

Out of all the talented people in the music and film industry, I can say I am thrilled that the decision makers in production of the new Smurf movie decided to cast Lovato. I have no doubt in her ability to bring an awesome performance.

Although the movie had been previously set for release on August 5, 2016, mark your calendars now because “Get Smurfy” is expected to hit theaters on March 31, 2017!
