“Boy Meets World” Star Rider Strong Talks “Girl Meets World”

Okay, I literally grew up with “Boy Meets World.” It was the basis of much of my life when I was younger. I have seen every episode a thousand times and I would relive Cory and Topanga’s lives over and over again for eternity and I would live and love with Shawn through all his hardships. So many life lessons learned from that family of characters and so many laughs had with them. I miss it. And so does Rider Strong, the actor who played Shawn in the series.

Now that a spin-off called, “Girl Meets World,” is finally happening, I feel I can breathe a sign of relief that the story isn’t over yet. At least not for Cory and Topanga. But what about Shawn? Rider Strong explained to E! News that he would love to reprise his role on he new series.

I feel like I should show up at some point and finish the storyline. We’ve been talking. I just want it to be done right. I really want it to be classy and good. I want it to be something that makes the fans proud. It really depends on what the show is going to be. It has to define itself and it has this weird challenge of appealing to a new audience, but then also appealing to the old Boy Meets World audience. I don’t know how they are going to pull that off.

While there have been talks for him to reprise his role, there has been no definite idea when it comes to how his character could be reintroduced to the story.

We’ve talked about it a little bit. I think he’s got to be in trouble of some kind and he’s got to pull Cory into trouble. That’s definitely the way it’s going to be because that’s always how it went. I’d like to see him happier. I feel like Shawn was destined for tragedy. I mean, gosh, they killed my father, my mother abandoned me, my girlfriend and I broke up at the end of the show. They really just made Shawn’s life he**. It would be good if he’s in trouble but in general is happy.

The casting for “Girl Meets World” is all but done yet Disney hasn’t made an official announcement for its pickup. Though with the almost overnight surge in popularity with both the original series and the future of this series, I have no doubts that it will at least get one season on air. Especially with several members of the main cast returning.

Would you watch the series? Have you seen the original? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below!
