My 7 year old son finally got his opportunity to test out the Nintendo 3DS while in Target this past weekend. They had one on display and I figured it would be a good opportunity to see how it affected him with the 3-D turned to about 80% on the device. The game that was available to play was Pilot Wings Resort. Now some quick background, yes my son does get car sick if he reads in the car or plays video games. Sometimes even from just watching a movie while in the car. Now while the 3DS was not in the car, I still felt that it would be a good test.
I allowed him to play for 5 minutes and then we walked away from the device. I asked him how he felt. He said his eyes felt weird, that they felt too close together and kind of hurt his eyes and head. This lasted for a few minutes as we walked around the store. I can only image how it would be if he was in the car with such a device. Now on to my 5 year old son that does not get car sick. He played for about the same time, and he did not experience the same symptoms. He said his eyes felt weird for a sec or two, which I can just attribute to re-focusing, but nothing else.
Just some information if you have a child that gets car sick and is looking for a 3DS. Now I thought it was great looking and wanted one of those Nintendo 3DS units right away for myself!
