With the power and the magic of friendship we have seen them overcoming the most dangerous of feats. Overcome what life has thrown at them. And perhaps above all else, prove just how strong and magical friendship is. And that even ponies can be magical girls.
During the past six years we have followed the adventures of the famous mane six ponies. Together Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Fluttershy and Applejack have enchanted the hearts of viewers. With each episode embodying mythical lore, heart and life lesions that we are never too old to hear.
But, as we all know, their adventures are not limited to the likes of Ponyville or Canterlot. And not simply because the series is continuously exploring more locations.
Back in 2013 a new leg, pun somewhat intended, was added on to the My Little Pony universe. Equestria Girls. A world more like our own inhabited by human versions of the characters we know so dearly.
From entrance into a strange new world. To using music to save the day and facing off in the Friendship Games a lot of tales have been told. And more tales are on the way.
Comic-Con International, being the grand event that it is, was full of news and exciting releases. And did Hasbro have some treats in store for us. At their booth magic was in the air and new toys and dolls where displayed. During the panel questions about the second half of season six was answered. Mentions of new characters in the upcoming feature film (slated to release next year). And of course, a trailer for the third Equestria Girls film was released.
Back in February at Toy Fair, Legends of Everfree was announced. It was then that we had gotten a look at just was ahead for the Sunset Shimmer and the human versions of the mane six. After the events of the games it only feels like a new start. Now we can finally get a full circle understanding of what the next adventure will be for the girls.
The trailers for the movies are always fun and fantastic. Check it out below. Credit to EW.com for the trailer.
Do not get me wrong. I have enjoyed the previous three films, and find Canterlot High to be a very good setting. A great deal can happen at school at any given time. A fact the previous films have illustrated. But I am that the school is not the primary location for the events. Even though the girls are teenagers, and school is a big part of life, it is nice to see them in a new environment.
That also means that they are likely away from the portal. We may not even see Princess Twilight appear in Legends as she did before.
Yep. It looks like this time the girls are completely on their own. Good thing they have SciTwi now. Speaking of, I wonder how the magic upgrades will affect her. Everyone else has gotten well use to magic, except Twilight. It will be interesting to see how she handles any abilities she may gain. Especially after the events of the previous film.
The trailer does offer a good glance into what is to come, and really leaves us want more. So many questions need answered. Is this another Equestrian cast-off lurking in the shadows? Or could it be the result of the magic released during the fall formal?
Legends of Everfree arrives on Netflix October first.
