Rowan Blanchard To Play Riley Matthews – The Daughter of Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel in Girl Meets World

Girl Meets World is becoming more of a reality with the announcement of who landed the role of Riley Matthews. Rowan Blanchard will play the daughter of Cory and Topanga, who will be the 13-year old main character. She was confirmed by the show’s executive producer Michael Jacobs, who expressed that he saw in her a certainly quality that Ben Savage had in Boy Meets World. The series kicks off production next month and will have similar themes that the original did, only from a girl’s perspective with a modern twist. Both Danielle Fishel and Ben Savage will return as Cory and Topanga. As for what Michael Jacobs had to say about Rowan as Riley, here is what he told Entertainment Weekly.

As soon as Rowan walked into the room, I was reminded of why Ben Savage was loved as Cory Matthews, Rowan is real and accessible and I am hopeful this girl is about to meet a world that will love growing up with her as well.

I am excited to see what this sequel will bring to the table. I always loved the original series and while I do realize that this one will be different, I am still hoping for it to have similar cores. I know that it will be a change for Disney Channel, but if it pays off they may find themselves doing a lot more of similar ideas in the long run. I suppose the main thing is that they got Danielle and Ben to agree to be on the series. There was no way that it would work if it wasn’t for those two. They certainly sealed the deal for the network.,

How do you feel about their pick? I think she does look like both Danielle and Ben, so it works. I am just curious to see how she will behave in the series. I am getting a feeling that she will act more like Cory, but I would love to see her have shades of Topanga in her as well. As for rest of the cast, I think we will have to wait to find out who else will wind up being on the potential hit series.
