Teen Vogue closed out 2012 by releasing their list of the most searched for celebrities on their website. Like most of the other lists we have seen put out by websites, many familiar faces rank in with some unexpected or not so famous faces! It is certainly an interesting list to see Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber to rank under Josh Hutcherson or Kendall Jenner (!!). However, it also forces us to look at the changing tide on teen stars and popularity as our current generation enters their 20s and a whole new set enters onto the scene. Here are some of the highlights on who made the list and where they rank.

86. Joe Jonas
40. Bella Thorne
37. Zendaya Colemna
29. Lucy Hale
19. Mindless Behavior
18. Justin Bieber
17. Kristen Stewart
15. Nina Dobrev
14. Cody Simpson
13. Jennifer Lawrence
12. Demi Lovato
11. Miley Cyrus
7. Kendall Jenner
6. Taylor Swift
5. Emma Watson
3. Josh Hutcherson
2. Selena Gomez
1. One Direction

I am not surprised by One Direction being number one on the list, but some of the rest of it is pretty shocking. Justin is trailing so behind Selena, it is sad when you consider how he used to be the more popular. This makes it sound the opposite and I doubt that sits well with either of them. I am also surprised that Liam Hemsworth was not included on it. Since he is engaged to Miley and was in The Hunger Games, I would assume he would be listed. Same goes for Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. This list certainly feels incomplete at this end, but I suppose some of these former stars have lost their teen appeal while others have piqued the interest of others.

Do you agree with this list? Not 100%, but to be honest I do think they have hit it right on the head. The older stars and starlets are losing their teen luster and we are seeing the influx of new ones coming in. It seems natural for this to happen, even though who is popularly searched may not. Finicky teens are not known for sticking to a certain celebrity interest for a long time and with the end of two big franchises, plus certain Disney shows- it has only been a matter of time before we saw this change.
