New Star Wars Comic Book Series Launched

Star Wars fans can rejoice at a new comic series that will focus on the original trilogy. Dark Horse Comics and writer Brian Wood will release a new monthly comic book that will tell the story of Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker and rest of them between the original two movies. Dark Horse Comics have been releasing Star Wars for over 20 years now. Brian has expressed his passion only to release comics based on the ordinal series and not from the upcoming Disney reboot. George Lucas sold the franchise to Disney last year, causing an uproar among fans of the sci-fi trilogy, which will have a new film coming out in 2015. Here are some of the quotes about the new comic series from Brian.

I know the original trilogy best….It’s writing the story knowing what the audience knows but what the characters don’t. Obviously, Luke and Leia don’t know they’re related — I can’t ignore that, “t’s a very enjoyable challenge walking that line,

This should give some fans some hope about not losing out on the original franchise. I personally do not see why so many people got mad at Disney buying the franchise up, though. They have had success with some others and I don’t think they will weaken it by making it super Disney style since that is not what the core fan base likes. I would assume that they would have much bigger plans than that, sort of like how Dark Horse Comics has bigger plans for this new comic series based off the hit franchise.

How do you feel about this news? I am okay with it, but not really surprised. I don’t think the Star Wars craze will ever die down and even though George no longer owns it, I think we can still expect a lot from the original fan community outside of Disney’s. However, with being said I wouldn’t be surprised if fans later on decide to support Disney’s ownership once we learn more about the upcoming movie.
