Ben Savage & Danielle Fishel Join Girl Meets World (Corey and Topanga)

By on November 28, 2012

Are they or aren’t they? That has been the question surrounding Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel since the rumors of a Boy Meets World spin off surfaced. Well, it appears that Girl Meets World has been officially confirmed by Ben, who tweeted that is officially happening. It appears that both Ben and Danielle will reprise their roles as Cory and Topanga Matthews as the parents of 13-year old Riley. Right now none of the other original cast has signed on and no word on whom will play their daughter, her friend Maya or their son. The search is supposedly on, but no word on how they will go about seeking out the stars. The show is set to start production early next year and has no timeline, since they are working on pre-production end of it. Here is the supposedly official tweet that Ben wrote in terms of the show being confirmed.

I’m going to be a father! Well, on TV at least. The “Boy Meets World” sequel is officially happening!

Well, it looks like it will happen and thus the pressure is on for them. I am not too worried about Danielle or Ben since they likely still know their characters pretty well. But I am concerned about who or how the show will work. I was and am still a major fan of the original, which will be huge shoes to fill in for Disney. However, I am eager to learn more about it and see where they will take it since it does seem to be hyped up much. Hopefully Disney won’t allow them to fail us fans on this spin off.

How do you feel about this news? Can Ben and Danielle save the potential disaster? I think so, but I don’t think they will really do much to help the production unless they work with them. I am hoping that they will stay as true to their original characters were and keep things on a true family friendly side of it all. Beyond that, I am not too concerned since the original team seems to be forming again and that will hopefully make it float well enough to survive the choppy waters of remakes or spin offs.

Maybe they can hire Augus T. Jones, just a thought he may be leaving Two and Half Men!
