One Direction – We Do Not Ban Certain Questions in Interviews
One Direction have been dealing with the bad side of fame, which means rumors galore. So they recently went to Twitter to clear up the current rumor that they have banned certain questions from interviews. Their PR team was quick to defend and clear up what they did ban. They state that they have asked for no more repeat questions so new ones that fans want answered can show up during their interviews. No word was given on what questions (minus the 2 examples) that have been forbidden, which could leave room for more rumors. As for their full comment on the story and what they do claim to ban, here it is.
Regarding the recent story about One Direction ‘banning questions’ -this is a complete misunderstanding. One Direction asked if certain recurring questions could be avoided in future interviews as the band were giving the same answers continually. They knew, via feedback, that the fans were requesting a wider range of subject matter in interviews. Questions relating to describing each band member, or referencing The X Factor, are certainly not out of bounds. A suggestion was merely made to try and make interviews more interesting for the fans, which has been misconstrued and misunderstood.
I personally think their request was a good one to make. I often feel bad for celebrities who have to deal with the same kind of questions over and over again, so I support it. Heck, I even suggested such an idea before and I am glad that they came up with it as a solution. The only issue was perhaps how they phrased their suggestion all that well. It might have given some people the wrong idea, and thus could have created the rumors without trying to by mistake. Or at least that would make sense to me, even though I am not sure how they released this news to the media at first.
Do you support their request? Is it fair or are they pushing it? I think it is fair since life has to get boring when you are answering the same question a bunch of times over and over. We already know those answers by now and for those who do not, they can always look for it online. So it is beyond reasonable for them to ask for some of those older questions from last year to be removed. It makes their job more fun and easier in a lot of ways, while also preventing them from falling into routine with their answers.
