Girl vs. Monster & Dog With A Blog Lead Disney Channel to Friday Victory
Friday night’s debut of the Halloween-themed Disney Channel Original Movie “Girl Vs. Monster” captivated 4.9 million Total Viewers, ranking as Friday’s #1 scripted cable TV telecast and the #2 TV Movie of 2012 to date in Kids 2-11 (2.8 million/7.0 rating), Kids 6-11 (2.2 million/9.5 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (1.9 million/7.8 rating).
The movie led into the solid premiere of the family sitcom “Dog With a Blog,” which became the #1 TV series launch of 2012 to date across target kid demos, ranking as Friday’s #2 TV telecast, retaining an impressive 93% of its lead in Kids 2-11 (2.6 vs. 2.8 million) and 95% in Kids 6-11 (2.1 vs. 2.2 million). In Total Viewers, it was the #2 scripted cable TV telecast of the day, retaining an also noteworthy 92% of lead in (4.5 vs. 4.9 million). Disney Channel stood as Friday’s #2 cable TV network in Total Viewers in both Prime (4.1 million) and Total Day (2.1 million), behind only MLB Playoff-fueled TBS, and was the #1 TV network in Kids 2-11, Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14. “Girl Vs. Monster” consistently grew its audience throughout, building by 24% in Total Viewers (4.5 million to 5.6 million), by 28% in Kids 2-11 (2.5 million to 3.2 million), by 30% in Kids 6-11 (2.0 million to 2.6 million) and by 24% in Tweens 9-14 (1.7 million to 2.1 million).
Disney Channel owns the year’s Top 8 scripted TV telecasts in Kids 2-11 (Top 8 across all cable TV) with “Girl Vs. Monster,” the series finale of “Wizards of Waverly Place” (1/6/12), “Jessie’s” #1 telecast of all time (1/6/12), event ‘Special Delivery’ episode for “Good Luck Charlie” (6/24/12) and June DCOM “Let It Shine” (6/15/12), plus other highly rated series telecasts.
