Walmart Unveils Top 20 Toy List 2012 – Furby Sits Top Spot
Walmart knows how much people and families are hurting during this tough time, hence why they brought back the holiday layaway program back earlier this year. But they now have released a batch of what they consider to be the most popular toys for the 2012 holiday season. They complied three lists, one with general toys and the other two separate lists for boys or girls. These list where created to help out people who plan to buy early before wish lists are made or for those who need to use lawaway (which will last until December 14th in Walmart stores). The total three lists make up what they call the top 20, but we will put in the note on what section of the list Walmart has placed these toys in.

Whew, that is one heck of a list! It is interesting to see how toy trends change, while some will never fully change. I love seeing that 2 tablets for kids are on the list, that is certainly better than paying a couple hundred for a high end tablet just for your kids (that doesn’t count those who own them as a family item, though). As for the holiday edition of Barbie, I think she will always have a spot on the in-demand toys along with Hot Wheels. However, the rest pretty much change outside of the possible board game or 2 that sometimes appear on the list.
Do you approve of the list? Will it help you shop or how many of these items do are younger readers wish to have? I still enjoy these list as an adult, sort of like how I still enjoy wishbooks. I am glad that Walmart has released it early for parents and people who need layaway, but it also helps put them back in front of the holiday shopping spotlight that they need to be in to stay ahead of their competition this year. Here is the official press release that they released.
Walmart Unveils Top Toy List and Gives Parents Confidence to Shop Now for the Toys Kids Want at Everyday Low Prices
No Reservations Required: America’s Largest Toy Seller’s Hassle-Free Layaway Program Begins this Sunday
BENTONVILLE, Ark., Sept. 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Walmart announced today its Top 20 Toy List featuring FURBYS, LeapPads, Novi Stars Dolls and 17 other toys bound to be on kids’ wish lists. Walmart’s Top Toys are available now at Walmart stores in time for the retailer’s layaway program, launching this Sunday. Customers who like their local Walmart store’s Facebook page can begin using layaway today.
If a customer puts a toy on layaway and Walmart rolls back the price later in the season, Walmart will honor the rolled-back price if it is in effect at the time of final payment. Walmart will also match competitor pricing during checkout for layaway products through its ad match policy. Customers will be able to pick up their toys once they complete their layaway payments. Once completed, customers will receive a full refund of the $5 layaway open fee on a Walmart gift card.
