Toys R Us Shares Hottest Toy Predictions for 2012 Holidays
We have been slowly seeing the hottest toys list of 2012 be released from big retailers to websites dedicated to toys, causing a toy overload for some parents. But it appears to only become more overwhelming as a new batch of hot toy lists are coming out, with a new batch from Toys R Us. Since they have opened up free layaway to compete with Walmart, they had to release to their own (yet similar) list of toys that could give parents ideas for holiday gifts a head start. Like the previously lists, you will see some agreed upon toys as well as their own ideas on what will be a hot item this year. Here is their list, which should be noted as in no particular order.
1D Collector Dolls (Hasbro®)
Y Volution™ Fliker® F1 Flow Series™ Scooter (Atomic Sports)
Wii U (Nintendo)
tabeo™ (Toys”R”Us®)
Skylanders Giants™ Starter Pack (Activison Publishing, Inc)
Ninjago Epic Dragon Battle (LEGO®)
Hot Wheels® R/C Terrain Twister™ (Mattel®)
Nickelodeon® Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Secret Sewer Lair Playset (Playmates)
Micro Chargers™ Time Track (Moose Toys™)
LeapPad2 Explorer™ (LeapFrog®)
FURBY™ (Hasbro®)
Lalaloopsy™ Silly Hair Stars Harmony B. Sharp™ (MGA Entertainment®)
Jake and the Never Land Pirates Jake’s Musical Pirate Ship Bucky (Fisher-Price®)
Gelarti™ Designer Studio (Moose Toys™)
Doc McStuffins “Time For Your Check Up” (Just Play™)
This list certainly has a wider range of toys than most! I think that makes it interesting since they add toys that most of the others did not. While it is clearly too early to see what will become the best sellers this year, I think they clearly have the best shot at being correct thanks to their wide range of ideas. However, I will have to admit that it is funny that they included their tabeo. It seems like a needless plug for it, even though it could be a great way to boost their sales if everyone things it will be the next big thing.
How do you like the list? Are they closer to what you think will become the true must have toys of the year? I do, but I am certainly not knocking the other list. I think each one holds a certain value and it will be fun to compare all of them to the true sales will be once the season truly kicks off. As for the lists and their purposes, I think they make great conversation starters and will also give parents an idea on what to buy if they need to start early. Don’t you agree or do you ignore all of the list like these?
