Tom Parker of The Wanted Calls Out MTV Over EMAs
The Wanted has been doing muchbetter after the big brouhaha earlier this year and they even recently shared that they are happy with where they are. But now Tom Parker seems to be biting the bands words now with his recent choice of words. Recently MTV in Europe announced their nominees for the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards and The Wanted was no where listed in the nominees list. This upset Tom (and his band) since they were up for a 2012 MTV Video Music Award in the US, but not in their own stomping grounds. Because of the upset and somewhat of a public embarrassment, Tom had a few choice words for MTV in Europe and took to Twitter to share them. Here is what he had to say.
I think it’s bull**** that we weren’t nominated for an EMA this year!!! @mtvema
Poor Tom, he seriously seems bothered that they were not selected .We know that they have done well in their homeland, thus they should receive some sort of mention at the award’s show. So I do agree with him that it doesn’t seem fair that they have to wait it all out and hope to earn the respect of the music industry in their home country. I mean, they clearly have talent and they do seem to have a decent enough following that our own labels here were willing to take a risk with them. So as to why they were snubbed, it makes no sense and I do agree with Tom that it is unfair to them as a whole.
How do you feel about this news? Did The Wanted deserve to be nominated or even to win awards? I think so, but One Direction once again steals the spotlight for the most part of the boy band industry. I think as fans of the band, we should let MTV know that we are not okay with the snub and believe that The Wanted is just as worthy as nominees as others. While I doubt that it would help them get the attention that they deserve, it might prove to MTV that they are not a band to be overlooked at in the long term.
