Taylor Swift Releases Song “Ronan” For Cancer Victim

By on September 11, 2012

Taylor Swift joined the annual Stand Up To Cancer event to honor a child who died from the disease. The event was broadcasted on Friday from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles to help raise money for research and Taylor introduced a new song titled “Ronan”. The song was written by Taylor and the 4 year-old’s mom, after Taylor read his story on a blog. He sadly passed away in 2011, but Taylor wanted to make sure that his story did not go unforgotten or in vain. The song can now be bought via iTunes, which proceeds from the purchase will go to cancer research. For those who missed the heart warming performance on Friday, you can watch it down below.

I am glad that Taylor wrote the sweet song and released it. It is a good reminder on why we need to keep searching for a cure and for his mother to always have a reminder that her family isn’t the only one who remembers her son. I hope “Ronan” will quickly shoot up the charts and maybe even get some airplay. I think it would be a great way to pay respect and to remind the fact that the disease is still around no matter how many lives it takes so far.

How do you like Taylor’s new song? I do and I love the meaning behind it. It was an amazing gift that she could give to the family, but it also is a great gift that will keep on returning to others as well. I am sure Ronan’s family must be feeling proud of Taylor. My only question is if she will include it on her album or maybe release it on a EP? That would be another great way to raise more money for the charity and also allow her to really honor the memory of Ronan. Don’t you think that could be the biggest way to help the research and to honor his memory as well?
