Miley Cyrus Wows Critics With Lilac Wine Cover
For months we have heard reports that Miley Cyrus was working on new music and was even spotted filming a music video earlier this year, which never came to much before. Well, Miley has officially confirmed that her musical return is around the door and released a cover of a 50s song “Lilac Wine”. She filmed a backyard session video where she sang the song. The retro sound could be a hint that former rocker has switch genres for her upcoming album, hence her more Adele style of songs. So far her new song has received love from the critics while fans are still trying to find their new opinions on Miley’s new sound. You can watch the video of her rendition of “Lilac Wine” down below. As for her recent tweets about her music, here is what she told MTV for their review and a hint at a new single soon.
Thank u @mtv for such an amazing review of Lilac Wine

How do y’all feel about me confirming a single for this year!!!
It sounds like Miley Cyrus does have some serious plans to make her comeback musically. As for her new sound, I think it is normal since she likely wants to repair her image and maybe show a more mature side? My only main concern is how her core fan base will react to the sudden change in her music. Neither Miley nor Billy Ray Cyrus have ever hinted at a possible genre change, so this comes as huge news. While I certainly think she proves that she has a good voice and solid talent, but most likely her fans are not sure what to think about the sudden change in her sound. However, given in time, they will likely start loving the new sound once it grows on them.
How do you like her new sound? Does Miley do the song justice or do you miss the old Miley? I like her new sounds, it reminds me Adele and I think she could easily top off her career with this new path. We have seen how good Adele has done, so why not Miley? She took a song that had no room for any computer based sounds or auto tune, which I think will play into her strengths and remind the world of what a powerhouse of a singer that she really is. If I was some of the retro based singers right now, I would be nervous about Miley coming out with new music.

that really sucks-Smelly takes herself WAY too seriously-the echo effect is all wrong for this song which has imbecile lyrics-and she does not have the voice to pull off the languid lounge lizard jazz ballot style. Besides her ONLY market is poptard brainwashed 12 year olds who should have their iPhones and twitter accounts permanently taken away and this isn’t going to fly with them-and anyone who really likes music will cringe when they hear this

Gee, too bad her new album is going to be just like her last album…but worse.
The backyard-session songs was just Miley having a little fun singing a bunch of her favorite songs, or her favorite songs that day. Her new CD is going to be a serious Miley, which means Miley trying her best to imitate whatever the current club scene music is.
Unless it’s going to be some weird smorgasbord of different music styles from the past fifty years or something (maybe doo-wop, British invasion, psychedelic rock, disco, punk rock, hair metal, grunge, etc) don’t expect it to be that much different than Can’t Be Tamed…which was laughably bad.

I’ve loved Miley since the beginning. Whatever she sound has been, I’ve loved it. If her new album is like her old music, or “Lilac Wine,” I’ll love it either way.

It is a nice cover. I prefere the version by Elkie Brooks. 1978, her vocals are superb.
