JK Rowling: No More Harry Potter For Now
J.K. Rowling might be releasing her first book for the adult crowd, but she also admitted that she might return to Harry Potter. She talked to BBC all about the fact that she might do a prequel to the series, even though she sees no way to carry on Harry’s life after Hogwarts. She also admits that does sort of wish that she could rewrite a few of the novels in the franchise, even though she declined to say which books. Here is what she all had to say in terms of the franchise and what she might actually do in the future, even though she herself is unsure about Harry’s future.
“where Harry’s story is concerned, I’m done…I don’t want to go mechanically back into that world and pick up a load of odds and ends and glue them together and say, `Here we go, we can sell this, It would make a mockery of what those books were to me…But … if I did have a great idea for something else, I probably would do it. I am very averse to the prequel-sequel idea. A sidestep could maybe … well, we’ll see….And I read them (the franchise), and I think `Oh God, maybe I’ll go back and do a director’s cut, I don’t know
Well, she still has a lot in her and I am sure somewhere down the line she might want to revisit with those characters. They will always be a big part of her and her career, plus she even has said in the past that she will never say never. I do think that she could be sick of fans wondering about Harry, so that might seem like an idea that is too far off for her right now. But give it 10 years or so, and she might feel ready to return to the franchise that has made her a household name.
Do you hope that she does write more books related to Harry? I do, but at the same time I can understand how she might otherwise not feel like writing one so soon. The movie franchise has just ended, so I can only assume that she is asked about it all the time. So I can see why she might not feel like doing more of the story that she labored over for a huge chunk of her life. While it did provide her and her kids an amazing life, I don’t think she is ready for that level of success or fandom again.
