Jane Lynch In Disney’s New Wreck-It Ralph TV Spot
Disney releases a new TV spot for Wreck-It Ralph that features Jane Lynch of Glee! The movie which will open on November 2 will be about bad guy Ralph in video games becoming sick and tired of playing the bad guy, so he switches video games to be the good guy at last. However, he learns that it was a mistake because he unleashes an enemy that is doing way more damage than Ralph could ever guess. Jane does the voice of Sergeant Calhoun, whom is in the trailer that can be seen down at the bottom of this post. John C. Reilly and Jack McBrayer are both also featured in the movie with Jane.
I am happy that Disney decided to do this movie. It will certainly be different and I cannot wait to see it! It sounds like it will appeal to the parents and kids alike, while it has a tiny bit more of a focus on boys. With that being said, they do make it pretty clear that it isn’t something they want to put much focus on in terms of what gender they wish to appeal more to. So it feels like a fair movie that could easily have a wide appeal if Disney keeps the marketing on that path.
Are you excited for the movie and if so, do you think Disney is smart on down playing gender specific marketing with it? My answer to both is yes. I think they make it pretty clear that this movie will be for entertainment this holiday season and it will be a different one to watch. So down playing some areas is part of that plan and I am betting that it will pay off. Disney knows exactly what they are doing and I feel like this plan might be one way to improve their image once again.
