Disney Launches Daily Deal Website
Disney is joining the growing community of daily deal websites by launching Disney Family Deals (www.disneyfamilydeals.com). The website will sell Disney merchandise and deals for fans of the brand, much like how Groupon works. It will also list “local” deals for those who seek our area related events, services or products to buy. Things like Mickey Mouse home decor to trips to one of their resorts will be some of the common items that Disney Family Deals will offer. The website has already gone live and features a handful of select deals that include reasonable prices for the deals. As an example of what they offer, they currently have a costume corner for those who wish to dress up as Disney characters for Halloween.
It sounds like a great idea for a website. I personally cannot wait to see what they will all sell as time goes on. I think that they will have a huge amount of regular consumers even outside of the holidays. However, it will be interesting to see how they will keep it current and not run out of ideas within their brand. I mean, I don’t think they will partner with anything outside of the Disney brand and that could put them in danger of running out of things. Even if they do have consumers year round using their website, they will still likely find themselves in a rut.
How do you feel about this concept? Are you willing to use their service for your Disney fix? I want to, but mainly for a Disney trip to their resorts. However, I am not even sure if their discount would help much on that level or not. When you are spending a couple hundred per day on one person, that is pushing my budget. With that being said though, I do think buying some trinkets or gifts through their service might be useful. The discount likely takes a good chunk out of their price and that could easily be justified in my book to buy.
