Carly Rae Jepsen Debuts New Song – This Kiss

By on September 16, 2012

Carly Rae Jepsen’s debut album Kiss is coming out on this upcoming Tuesday (September 18) and she is releasing new song “This Kiss” for her fans to sample. The song is much like her mega hit “Call Me Maybe” and shows off a fun, yet catchy track to rock the autumn season with. The song can be found down below, if you wish to hear more of her music before she releases her exciting album!

I am not sure what to say about the song. It is very pop, but it also sounds more like something you would expect Selena Gomez to sing. While I wouldn’t say anything is wrong with it, I just wouldn’t have pegged Carly as a bubblegum kind of pop singer. She seemed to have a little bit more of an edge or mature side, which I feel like this song cancels out. However, I do think it will become a hit and we could see Carly ruling the charts once again with this song or any of her other ones. She certainly has proven herself to be star worthy by far. I am sure Justin Bieber and Scooter Braun are not regretting signing her right now.

Do you like the song? Does “This Kiss” sound like something you would have thought Carly would do? I didn’t, but I was wrong since she did record a bubblegum pop song and put it on her album. At least we know that she doesn’t mind doing all sorts of music and seems serious enough to offer something for everyone. Not many singers do that and I feel like she deserves a round of kudos, even if I am not crazy about any of the songs I have heard from her yet (even though her music might be growing on me).

Well This Kiss is certainly not another Call Me Maybe. Carly is probably a very sweet girl but she doesn’t have much of a voice. She has no power in her vocals at all. However, she is pretty, peppy, has Justin Bieber’s approval and will probably continue to be popular at least in the short run.
