Austin Mahone Joins Billboard Top Social 50 Again

By on September 24, 2012

YouTube star Austin Mahone’s first music video, “Say Somethin’” might be barely released but it has already made a huge splash. Thanks to his hit song and video, he has entered the Billboard Top Social 50 list again. His big re-appearence on the list was at #19 thanks to his fans doing major support of his first single. The list takes in count all social media activities tied into certain singers and their followers. This sometimes called “Baby Bieber” appears to be well on his way of major stardom just like Justin was. Austin currently has no official album title or release yet, since he is just barely signed at this point.

I am glad that he has found success, but I do feel like he is taking the whole path Justin made. Austin is his own person and while his label might see him as a huge way to earn more money, I do think he should be allowed to be his own person. I have no doubt that he would find success with that, but I think most are hoping to mold him into a Bieber copycat and I feel like his family (and himself) could speak up more about what they do not want to become.

How do you like the fact that Austin is back on the list? I like it, but I am not crazy about the fact that he is pretty much copying others. I would love to see him make it on any chart all due to his own work, not about what the label turned him into. That isn’t fair to him or anyone else who might become signed. Austin should be on that list and do things his way, since that is how he got his existing fan base anyways. But I feel like they are trying to choke him back from that and force him into a mold that might not fit him well at all.
