Amazon Introduces Two New Kindle Fire Devices At Competitive Prices

By on September 7, 2012

Amazon just introduced two new versions of the Kindle Fire, a popular tablet computer/e-reader. The e-tailer’s chief executive officer Jim Bezos said, “We want to make money when people use our devices, not when they buy our devices.”

The two new devices include the following: a 7 inch tablet with 16GB of storage that retails for just $199 and another 8.9 inch tablet with 16GB of storage and features 4G LTE. The latter tablet retails for $499. That’s not all! Amazon cut the price of their original Kindle Fire to $159 and upgraded the memory. Amazon will also release their fifth generation e-reader called Kindle Paperwhite, a device that has 25% more contrast that starts at $119 for wifi exclusive version and $179 for 3G version.

The Kindle Fire is a popular budget tablet and a great alternative to the Apple iPad. I think Amazon’s introduction of this new tablet will increase increase their revenue in a big way, especially this upcoming holiday season. I’m looking forward to the next Kindle Fire tablet and I’m sure that I’m not the only one! Are you looking forward to the next Kindle tablet? Do you currently own the original Kindle Fire and if so, how do you think it will compare with the new Amazon tablet?
