Taylor Swift’s We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together Breaks Records

By on August 23, 2012

Taylor Swift might have been considered a crossover singer for a good while now, but she never reached the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. Well, she can now check that off with “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together“. She has nabbed her first ever #number 1 spot on the chart, something she has been close to doing before TWO times previously. However, here is the real kicker-she climbed to the top spot within 1 week of release of her single. She also made her way to 14th spot on the Billboard Radio Charts and 13th on Country Songs chart (a highest debut to date for a female singer).

However, the cherry on top is her record-breaking 623,000 downloads of the single in its first week. She breaks Lady Gaga’s previous record of 448,000 in one week worth of downloads for “Born This Way”. Not shabby for a singer who has sold 17.8 million albums and has kept both pop & country radio stations busy.

This is great news for Taylor! I am so proud of her and she will also be singing at the 2012 MTV VMAs, which was just announced this week as well. It seems like this month could not get any better for her at all! I am so excited for her and cannot wait to see where her album with top the charts once it is released. I have feeling that “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” is just a sample of what we can expect from it. So if it has been doing this well, it makes me excited for the rest of her album to be released.

How do you feel about this news? Were you one of those who downloaded the song this week? I didn’t, but I am still beyond thrilled for her. She has worked so hard and to have a time where her music is doing well like her love life, it must feel so golden to her right now. I wonder how her label feels about this news? I wouldn’t be surprised if they jumped up and down, along with Taylor of course! They wouldn’t have been able to do that if it wasn’t for her. So lets all say congrats Taylor and welcome back from your much-needed break!
