Taylor Swift-My Ex Inspired We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together

By on August 16, 2012

Taylor Swift recently talked to Nightline for an upcoming episode set to debut this fall. During her chat with the show, she admitted that her new single “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” is a real life song. Then she went to tell how she and Max Martin worked on it after a mutual friend came in and claimed her ex said they were getting back together. Taylor was mad over it and decided to write a song all about it. She sadly declined to say who it was, but here is what she did tell Nightline about the new single.

[My friend] starts talking about how he’s heard [my ex and I] were getting back together and that was not the case. When he leaves, Max and Johan are like, ‘So what’s the story behind that?’ And so I start telling them the story of ‘break up, get back together, break up, get back together,’ just, ugh, the worst. Max says, ‘This is what we’re writing; we’re writing this song, And I picked up the guitar and just started singing ‘we are never.’ It just happened so fast. It was so much fun.

Her new single is a more of a change from her than we have ever heard, which does make me question where her new album will go? Could she try to be more pop? If so, I hope she chose it for the right reason and not just for popularity. She clearly is popular for the right reason, but I don’t think she needs to switch genres in music. It seems a tiny bit bizarre, unless she is just wanting to switch it up some even more. She has already crossed over into pop, so I don’t know why she would work with Max unless she wants to drop country all together.

How do you like her comments? Do you have any idea on who she was referring to? I don’t and I am not going even to try to guess. I just hope that whoever it is about won’t come out and say something hateful or sue her. She just decided to make her message to him as loud and clear that she could, which is fine if you ask me. However, whoever he is might not be okay with their old laundry being aired out, even if his name is kept hidden. I suppose only time will tell us what his reaction will be.
