Spice Girls’ Mel B Talks Viva Forever Musical

By on August 18, 2012

The Spice Girls ruled at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games closing ceremonies and they are excited for what is next for them! MTV was able to chat with Mel B (aka: Scary Spice) to dish on their upcoming music, Viva Forever. The musical based off the music of the Spice Girls will open in London on November 17th and the whole band is excited. Mel B even shared that they have worked on this for years! While they have no plans for a US showing of the musical, they do seem to have high hopes for the London showings. Here are a few highlights from her interview with MTV.

It’s been in the works for the last three, four years, so we’ve all been really, really excited … to actually [have it] take shape. We all sat there and watched the workshop at the start of this year and watched it all get molded together…You know, it’s just lovely, It’s quite special to know that your music is a part of a musical. That’s what we’ve always dreamed of, and it’s actually happening from one conversation three, four years ago to actually being in a theater in December, which isn’t far away. It’s quite amazing. I can’t really tell you which songs are in it, because I think that’s part of the surprise, but I think our songs tell a beautiful story that has nothing to do with the Spice Girls, It’s the essence of friendship and honesty and love, and the actual story line is beautiful.

I am glad that they are having their dream come true. I think it does sound amazing and I hope the talent that they hire for the musical can bring their songs to justice. I find it interesting that they chose to write a story around their songs, sort of like ABBA’s Mama Mia!. It will be a lot of fun to see what songs they did choose and to see how they weaved a story to fit all of them. I personally hope that they do bring it to the US within time. It sounds like it will be a hit and I can only hope that we will be blessed enough for it to hop across the pond.

Are you excited to hear more about Viva Forever? I am and yes, I am a fan of their band. They certainly have paved the way for other sassy female singers and I love that they have all remained friends. They certainly have talent and to see their dream coming true, it all makes me so very happy. They have worked hard enough, so why not bring something more or breath new life into their old songs? It will help raise new interest in their own music and they can rake in the new benefits of that with no problem.
