One Direction’s Zayn Malik Leaves Twitter Behind

By on August 23, 2012

One Direction fans had a very sad day this week. Zayn Malik of One Direction has chosen to leave Twitter behind, claiming that hate and rumors as the reason why. He even went as far as to say that he deals with it everyday and wanted nothing more to do with it. His fans of course grieved over the lost, which caused him to say that if they must speak to him via Twitter that he can found via the band’s official account.

He had around five million followers, which is a sign of just how beloved his Twitter presence was. He certainly is in good company with other singers who left the site, however many did return later on. Here are his last tweet from his former account.

The reason i don’t tweet as much as i use to, is because I’m sick of all the useless opinions and hate that i get daily goodbye twitter…My fans that have something nice to say can tweet me on the one direction account, x

Poor Zayn, but in one way he shouldn’t expect nothing but love with his band’s status. They clearly are high profiled and sadly that comes with a price to pay for many. While being hated on is certainly not right, I don’t think he has much recourse in stopping or even preventing it. So I don’t think he will ever be fully able to avoid or even to hide from the hate, unless he leaves the business (which I hope he doesn’t do). However, I do think he has a right to try to avoid sticky issues on Twitter and by leaving it, he could do just that.

How do you feel about Zayn’s choice? I think since we cannot fix the issue, then we should just try to show our respect. I think that would be the best way to get him to show up again and to also know that some fans do not care about the rumors or dislike. He needs time to heal from the hurt and we should respect that. It is the least we can do for one of our favorite boys of One Direction, right? Plus you can always tweet to him via the band’s account and I am sure he will see all of the support that he needs from his fans right now and it may change his mind about being offline.
