One Direction Cover Classic 90s Song: Wonderwall

By on August 16, 2012

One Direction is big on fellow British acts and recently they covered a popular 90s song from a UK rock band. They took on an acoustic version of Wonderwall by the Oasis, which came out back in 1995. The video was filmed at the same spot that they filmed What Makes You Beautiful music video. The boys clearly enjoyed making the cover song on their break from recording their follow up album. While we have no idea if this is a hint at what is to come, they made a lovely effort that will surely make Oasis proud. You can catch their acoustic performance of the song in the video down below this post.

I am glad to see that they love rock music and 90s at that! “Wonderwall” will always be one of my favorites and for a cover song, they did a pretty good job. It wasn’t something that I would have never expected it from them, so it is a lovely surprise. I just hope that we can see a lot more covers by them. They do well at it and I love that they go with a song that from the past. It gives it a new life and also might introduce some of their fans to the original act, which they certainly could not complain about.

How do you like their version of it? It is a great throwback and fun to see that they appreciate classic rock from the 90s. It is a lovely effort and I think they should do more of these kinds of songs. It fits the band well and I think we can all agree that they did good on “Wonderwall”. I wonder if we can petition them to get the song on their next album? I personally think it would be a highlight on it and would sort of give them an edge that wouldn’t hurt their credibility with other guys.
