Nina Dobrev Takes A Dig At Miley Cyrus?

By on August 1, 2012

The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev has always been very vocal, but during a recent interview with Canada’s Fashion magazine she may have taken a mean dig at Miley Cyrus. When asked if she was planning to marry Ian Somerhalder and she said not anytime soon. In fact, she said that she is not going to copy Miley. Based on her wording and what she said, many have taken it as a dig at Miley, who is engaged to Liam Hemsworth. Nina says she plans to one day, but implies that she thinks she is too young at this time to get married and start a family right now. Here is her exact quote.

Eventually I am going to marry and have a family but not anytime soon. I’m not going to pull a Miley [Cyrus]

Ouch, not the nicest thing to say to about Miley. However, the real kicker here is that Nina is actually older than Miley, so you would think that she wouldn’t be implying that she is too young (which she has her right to be entitled to her opinion) to get married as she approaches middle 20s. Yet she does and then makes the snide comment about Miley, implying that she is way too young to get married. Okay, not everyone will support Miley and Liam’s engagement-I understand that. But I don’t think people need to make snide remarks about Miley and taking a jab at her engagement. It is Miley and Liam’s choice, as long as they are happy with it-so should we be happy for them as a couple. As for Nina, it is her personal choice for when she will get married and when she does, great. We will support it, just like we support her current choice in not getting married. Granted, the magazine could have taken her comments out of context. If that was the case, she is also a victim in this whole case.

How do you feel about the comments? Were they digs? I think so, I mean there is no other way to slice or dice it. She clearly had no interest in sharing a nice opinion on Miley and her engagement. It will be interesting to hear what Miley will have to say and what Nina’s PR team will do next. I figure they will try to say that it wasn’t a dig, or something along those lines. As for speaking it out in a public magazine, I think Nina will need to think with caution next time before she says something along these lines.

She apparently was so overwhelmed with mentions about this that she tweeted about it, saying she’s a Miley fan, and offering herself as a flower girl. LOL > https://twitter.com/ninadobrev/status/230745596733050880

Joirnalism is so biased these days. You obviously favour Miley, and have some sort of envy towards Nina. Nina is still young. “mid 20′s” isn’t mid 30′s. As far as Miley, congrats to her on the engagement. Marriage shouldn’t be about age, it’s about where a person is at in life.

This whole article is one sided.

She obviously meant it as a joke, and it just got blown up into some mean ‘dig’ as you keep labelling it. You calling it ‘snide’ and a ‘jab’ when you really have no idea how it was said, or in what context it was said, is what exacerbates trivial situations like these.

So unfair for you to judge Nina! She has a good heart and will never ever deliberately say something against anyone…No need to make unnecessary issue out of it!

    So biased!

If you look at the article’s source, it says “Disney Dreaming”, therefore it is so blatantly biased against Nina because she dared to speak against a former Disney star. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but this has been taken so far out of context – if you see Nina in an interview, you’d know she would never say a bad word about anyone.
