Nick Jonas To Be The Next American Idol Judge?

While the search continues for the next American Idol there are some rumors swirling that Nick Jonas is set to be a judge on the next season.

Nick apparently took to Twitter to confirm the Idol rumors are in fact true!  Of course it is not guaranteed that he has the position just yet, but it does mean that he is considered.  Other names that are floating around for the position are Pharrell Williams, Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas, former Idol contestant Adam Lambert, there is also a bevy of country singers to help the flailing Idol compete against newer singing competition shows like The Voice.  Bigger names listed include Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney, Willie Nelson, and Keith Urban.  Nick Jonas of course would bring his big Jonas Brother fan base to the show and since his brother Joe Jonas has taken a mentor role alongside Nelly, Gloria Estefan and John Rich on the CW’s new music competition show The Next: Fame is at Your Doorstep.

If he is considered Nick would join Mariah Carey at the American Idol judges’ table.  However, what will make or break the table will ultimately be who sits up there with Mariah. The other two (rumors are that Randy Jackson will be stepping down this season as well to take on a mentor-type role on the show) judges’ career merits will be under intense scrutiny.   What do you think?  Would you watch American Idol if Nick was a judge?
