MTV Releases The Making of Katy Perry’s Wide Awake

By on August 24, 2012

Katy Perry has been hard at work earlier this year to release top of the line music videos. Fans have counted on Katy’s videos to bring a new look and fun storylines from her for as long as she has been out. But just recently did Katy decided to release a video called The Making of Katy Perry’s “Wide Awake” music video. We see an inside look of what it took to bring the storyline and 3D features to life for her fans and viewers alike. She hints that her family would frown on the darker music video in the behind the scenes featurette. She also admits her love of a 90s cult film The Craft. Besides talking about family disapproval, she also talks about why she chose to make a darker themed video. You can hear everything she had to say about that in the video down below (please remember that it will be more parts in the coming weeks) this post.

I am glad that she had so much fun and could laugh about the tough patches to make it happen. But I will say that I am wondering if we can start expecting more of this darker side of Katy? It seems like she was really happy to explore this side of herself freely. It was a bright move for her career, but I think everyone has loved her for her fun and colorful way of life. It will be interesting to see where she takes her career next after her much-needed and well deserved break.

Did you like “Wide Awake”? I think it was a nice change of pace from Katy’s normal style, but it was a huge risk to make. She was lucky that it paid off, but I wonder if she is going to try to be a bigger risk taker now? She clearly admits that she had to fight her family and convince them that it wasn’t as bad as they thought it would be. So it makes me wonder if she will be following Kelly Clarkson and start pushing for more of what she wants than agreeing to do whatever is just popular? Do you think she will or was this a one time kind of thing from Katy in your eyes?
