Olympic winner Michael Phelps has left swimming behind, but he is entering a new phase of his career and is bring the cameras along the way. The Haney Project is the title of the series and will air on The Golf channel. It will show him taking on the world’s toughest gold courses, something that he hasn’t had much practice for. Tiger Woods‘ former trainer will be helping Michael and his own training. However, his Olympic training will surely be helpful for him. Production will start next month in September with no word on when it will premiere. Here is what Michael had to say about his new gig and chapter of his life outside of swimming or the Olympics.

As I enter this next chapter of my life, I think I will be able to shift my competitiveness to anything I put my mind to. And golf is one of the things I want to focus on. … I want to play all the world’s great golf courses, but I’d like to play them well

I am glad that he found a new hobby and passion to focus on. However, I am not so sure why he would want to start from all over again for another sport. He spent of life in the pool and I would think that he would want a much needed break. I know that if I was him that is what I would want. But he seems happy with his choice and I would think that he would want to spend time relaxing. Otherwise he is pushing his body too far and I think it needs to rest it for a good while before he tries his hand at kind of competitive sports again.

How do you feel about this news? Should Michael take a break or not? I already shared what I thought. I don’t see why he would feel the need to jump back into it so soon. He has spent a good portion of his life working towards his goal and now that he has achieved that he should focus on something easier for his body. However, it is his choice and I am sure his fans will support his attempt in golf.
