Kelly Clarkson Takes On Call Me Maybe On Stage

By on August 21, 2012

Carly Rae Jepsen’s catchy song “Call Me Maybe” might have taken over the airwaves and fan’s hearts, but it is also a commonly covered song. So it makes sense that fans request it at another singer’s show and that is what took place at a recent Kelly Clarkson show. A fan who attended a Hershey, PA show requested it and Kelly honored it. She and her live band sang the song with her classic spin on it, which helped make it her own. She pretty much owned it, making fans wonder if it should have originally been sang by her! You can catch the Kelly version of it in the video down below if you are curious to see how she sang it.

I am glad that Kelly honored the request. I think she has done an amazing job to say the least. I hope we can expect her adding this song to her set, I think it will do great in all of tour stops. She has proven herself to be great at doing covers (which explains why she did so well on American Idol), so why not do more of them? I think a lot of fans would love for that and it would be a great way to promote herself since people will likely search for covers of Carly’s song. So it could help boost her career in the long run, which I am sure she is not opposed to do.

How do you like her cover? Is it better, as good or worse than Carly’s edition? I like it, but then again I am a fan of Kelly. She has always stayed true to herself and I respect that. She even stays true to herself in covers, which only adds to them if you ask me. I think we should all start requesting this song at her shows and maybe she will add it to the lineup. Don’t you want her to give others the chance to hear it live? I do and I am sure that I cannot be the only one who wishes for that.
