Joe Jonas’ The Next Promo Stills For Debut Episode

By on August 1, 2012

CW is gearing up for the premiere of The Next: Fame Is At Your Doorstep on August 19th, which they just released a fresh batch of photos for the series (which can be found down below). The show is produced by Queen Latifah and features Joe Jonas as one of the mentors. The show will be about the mentors traveling between 6 cities to seek the next big musical act. Gloria Estefan, John Rich and Nelly are also the other 3 mentors joining Joe on the show. The debut episode will be from their trip to Orlando, which you can see some photo stills of that episode down below. As for the premier episode, here is the official synopsis for it.

MUSIC SUPERSTARS GLORIA ESTEFAN, JOE JONAS, NELLY AND JOHN RICH TAKE OVER THE LIVES OF UP-AND-COMING LOCAL MUSICIANS TO HELP THEM ACHIEVE THEIR DREAMS — In this twist on reality singing competitions, Queen of Latin Pop Gloria Estefan, pop icon Joe Jonas, multi-platinum hip-hop artist Nelly, and country superstar John Rich will travel to six different cities – Orlando, Baltimore, New York, Chicago, Dallas and Los Angeles – and immerse themselves in the lives of local up-and-coming musicians on the brink of stardom, to prepare them for the performances of their lives and the chance to win a recording contract with Atlantic Records. In the premiere episode, Gloria surprises her contestant, Cori, at a boat party, and teaches her how to deal with her stage fright. Joe brings Tayler out of her comfort zone by having her perform material outside her normal musical repertoire. Meanwhile, Nelly puts Itzy on the spot, making her perform in front of her customers at work. And John gets comfortable in Michael’s personal space, all while giving him the tools he’ll need for an unforgettable performance – cowboy boots included (#101).

It sounds like it will be a fun series to watch. I cannot wait to see who is the best and worse of the mentors, along with their singers. I have a feeling drama will play a role, but what good reality show doesn’t have drama? I wonder if the mentors will be as competitive as they are on The Voice? It seems like that is the feeling that I am getting over this new series. I don’t see how else the mentors will act, even though I hope that I am wrong here. I want to see the mentors as more civilized with each other.

How do you feel about this show? Will be it any good? I think it has some major potential to be a huge hit for CW. I love the fact that some fresher faces will be the mentors and that an actual star is behind the series. It will give it some more weight, I think. I have a feeling that Joe must be feeling so excited for the premiere and I think we all can agree with him on that. It is a nice change of pace for him in his career and I am sure he will be able to help to improve all of his singers that he is the mentor for. At least we only have a very short time before the show actually premieres.
