Hulu Plus Heads To Apple TV

By on August 4, 2012

Good news for Apple TV and Hulu fans, they have finally reached an agreement that will bring Hulu Plus to Apple TV. Hulu Plus subscribers will be able to access the website to stream TV shows and movies on their TVs via the Apple TV device. This is a step forward for Apple, who previously was the only digital media receiver that did not support Hulu Plus. Apple TV’s rivals Roku, Google TV, Boxee and video game consoles have supported the service all along. For those who wish to access Hulu Plus can now subscribe through iTunes for only $8 dollars a month, which will be tacked onto their Apple TV bill. Apple TV has sold over 4 million devices now, while Hulu Plus currently has 2 million subscribers using their service.

I am happy that Apple and Hulu have finally signed an agreement. It wasn’t that Apple TV was hurting by anymeans (look at how many units they have sold), it was just a strange thing to not have the same option other digital media receivers did have. It should be a driving edge for many who have considered buying Apple TV or who want Hulu Plus. I should add that Hulu Plus can also be accessed via tablets, laptops and desktops as well.

How do you feel about this news? I am happy for both Apple and Hulu, it will be a beautiful partnership by far. I am sure this would make the late Steve Jobs proud. The only downside is for Apple’s competitors. It will be even a tougher call to make when it comes to picking one of their devices. I think that will hurt some of the others, but Apple will likely also feel some of the burn since that makes them tougher to choose as well. It will make for an interesting holiday shopping season, that much we do know.
