Cars’ Mater Lands 3 Toon Shorts This Fall

Disney and Pixar’s hit franchise Cars is getting some new life this fall! Disney XD and Disney Junior will be airing at least the two newest shorts from the franchise with the main focus on Mater and his friend, Lightning McQueen. The three titles shorts are Cars Toons: Mater’s Tall Tales (which will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray Nov 2), Cars Toons: Moon Mater and Cars Toons: Air Mater. They will feature short tales involving the two buddies and their adventures on the road. Here is the comment that Disney released along with the announcement.

Directed from the creative vaults at Disney Pixar, the exciting animated series Cars Toons is a set of shorts that chronicle the tall tales and adventures of the beloved Cars character, Mater, along with his racing buddy Lightning McQueen. Look out for the world television premiere of new Cars Toons ‘Air Mater’ and ‘Moon Mater’ coming this fall and catch all of the Cars Toons on Disney XD and Disney Junior.

I am excited since I loved the movies and while they are immature, they are fun to watch as a family. Mater is the show stealer, and I love that the shorts focus on him. He really does deserve more attention than he gets. Just because he is country-bumpkin kind of car doesn’t mean that he cannot save the world with his wit. As we saw with the sequel, he is more than ready for that role with his not so normal advice. However, his heart always wins and I think we need to see more of that.

Are you excited for these shorts? I am, I think the DVD (or DVDs if the rest are released on it as well) will rake in the money for Pixar and Disney. However, I am not sure how well they will do on TV releases at first unless they start promoting them now. I know that I didn’t even know about the first Mater short until recent and I feel like they could work harder to push them. So I hope they start working on that now, well ahead of their fall releases. Don’t you think that would be a wise move on their half?
