Carly Rae Jepsen’s Call Me Maybe Stays On Top Of Billboard Charts
Carly Rae Jepsen must be celebrating after hearing her hit single Call Me Maybe has remained at the number one spot on the Billboard chart for 8 weeks straight.
Once she found out she went straight to Twitter and said “Just found out CALL ME MAYBE hit 8 weeks at #1! How do I feel? Beyond GRATEFUL and LUCKY. Thanks to Everyone who made this happen.” Meanwhile, Jepsen may have more to celebrate in the future as she has been nominated for the MTV Video Music Awards for the new artist award. She will of course be up against Frank Ocean, One Direction, Fun and The Wanted. With performances from Alicia Keys and One Direction, the 2012 MTV VMAs will be presented Thursday, September 6 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. Additional performers and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Carly Rae Jepsen has been put on notice by Lady Gaga: break my chart record and I will come after you. The jokey warning shot across the Justin Bieber protégé’s bow came after Jepsen’s inescapable summer smash, “Call Me Maybe,” broke one of Gaga’s chart records. Gaga will reveal the name of her new album in September. Last week she hinted that the first song off the LP is produced by longtime collaborator DJ White Shadow, who worked with Gaga on Born This Way singles “Born This Way” and “The Edge of Glory.” What do you think of this?
