One Direction Confirmed To Close 2012 Summer Olympics
Rumors have been floating around that One Direction will be playing at the closing ceremony for the 2012 Summer Olympics London, which nobody was 100% sure of. Now The Mirror is reporting that they will be singing live at the closing ceremonies, along with a few other big UK acts. The Spice Girls will do a reunion show, as well as Queen, Take That and The Who. One Direction’s good friend Ed Sheeran will also be singing at the event. You will be able to catch that at the end of the games on August 12th on NBC. No word on what songs the boys will sing yet or if we can expect any surprises.
I am glad that they will be singing at the closing ceremony. I think that should make them so excited to see that they are indeed some of the hottest exports that the UK has to offer. It is also a historical moment for London to host the Olympics. I am sure that they must feel so blessed to know that they will likely have one of their biggest audiences that they have had to date. So I do expect that they will have some nerves, but then again wouldn’t most people? Nobody wants to think about the whole world watching them while they are performing. The thought is a little terrifying.
How do you feel about the news? Is this a huge honor for One Direction? I say so, but then again it would be a honor for anyone really. I am sure their parents have to feel so proud of their sons and honored that they were technically invited to the games, even if it for the closing ceremony. It is a lovely honor for anyone. I personally cannot wait to see all of the closing ceremony performances. They are just one of the exciting performances lined up for the event. I think that the closing ceremony might be better than their opening one at this rate.
