Carly Rae Jepsen has been known as a brave girl thanks to her hit single, “Call Me Maybe“. But she admits that is her musical persona and not the real Carly! After the 2012 Teen Choice Awards, she talked to Entertainment Tonight who wanted the back story of her song. Carly finally fessed up and said that she has never been that brave and enjoys living vicariously through her songs. I am glad that she is being so open about this. I don’t think what she said will affect her image. In fact, it might help her since fans will realize that she is more like them than they thought. I would say that is winning points for her by far. However, I also can see how she might have to change some of her songs or direction if she feels like it is not her. Many singers do switch gears with second albums and start singing about life experiences, so I won’t count on songs about who she wishes she was in the long term. However, we should enjoy her song right now and try to help boost her confidence, which she seems to be not so sure of having herself.

How do you like her admission? It was great, but at the same time I am not sure I would have said it the way that she did. However, I do give her props on it and I am rooting for her to match that success with more songs. I am sure a lot of her fans wish they were as brave as she is in the song, so I think she will be hearing a lot from those fans. Who knows, maybe she can even get her favorite celebrity crush (John Mayer) to sing her song as well!
