Bridgit Mendler Dishes On Target $5 Million Back-to-School Giving Campaign – Interview

By on July 27, 2012

The other day I was lucky enough to talk to Good Luck Charlie‘s Bridgit Mendler to talk to her about their new season, music and her campaign with Target. She answered some of our burning questions, while also showing her strong love for education. She explains more about the campaign and why she chose to join it. Very interesting info and also a look at her heart of gold. You can read the lovely interview that we had down below for more info on her the campaign and for her upcoming album that will come out in October.

BSCkids: Bridgit

Bridgit: Hello, Sarah. How’s it going?

Sarah: Fine. How’s it going with you, Bridgit?

Bridgit: It’s going good. It’s going good.

Sarah: Okay, well, first let me thank you first of all for taking the time to have this interview done with BSCKids, we appreciate it.

Bridgit: Oh, of course.

Sarah: Okay so, can you tell us a little bit about why you joined Target for their new back-to-school campaign?

Bridgit: I really believe in kids getting a good education and preparing themselves for a bright future. I was thrilled that Target wanted to pair up with me for this .

Sarah: Okay. And can you give us some details about what this campaign is hoping to acheive or what they stand for exactly?

Bridgit: Well the broader scope of the campaign is to donate a billion dollars to education by 2015, so that’s more of a long-term goal that has been going on since Target began but, in terms of what I’m personally involved with right now is the $5 million dollar campaign for education and half of that is divided up into $25 thousand dollar grants to 100 schools across the country that are in need and the other half is in the form of Target gift cards that kids are going to vote for their school to have donated to it. So, that means people go online, cast their votes for what school they want to get the donations. They can get up to $10 thousand dollars in Target gift cards for their school.

Sarah: That sounds amazing. What is your favorite part of the campaign?

Bridgit: I think my favorite part is the diversity of it, you know it’s really exciting that they are specifically focusing on 100 in-need schools around the country, but at the same time to get kids involved and really make them feel involved in part of raising money for, you know, what matters to them. So, I think they did a real good job coming up with the plans for this project.

Sarah: Is it as hard to work with campaigns along with everything else on your plate, like your show and your upcoming album?

Bridgit: You know, it is a lot to juggle but at the same time. I think it’s a worthwhile cause and it’s worth making time for and I just recently finished season three of Good Luck Charlie so that’s no longer filming andI’m gearing up the album. And as I tour around the country, I’ll be able to tell people about that. You kind of double it up.

Sarah: Wow. It sounds like you got a lot on your plate but it’s good that you make time for your charities. What is in store for Good Luck Charlie season 4 which was just confirmed recently?

Bridgit: You know I don’t know because they haven’t. I don’t think they started writing it yet so it’s kind of in the brainstorming phase and the cast members on Good Luck Charlie rarely know what’s going to happen on the show until the week before it’s shooting, so I’m hoping that they’ll just show the family continuing to grow up and go through all sorts of crazy circumstances. I can’t reveal what will happen in the final clifhanger of season 3 but there a lot of different things shaking up. It will be interesting where the castmembers go from there.

Sarah: Definitely sounds like it will. We will definitely be tuning in to Good Luck Charlie and find out what’s going on?

Bridgit: Yes

Sarah: We know that you sing as well as act. How do you juggle your music career along with your acting? I mean you pointed out obviously that your done filming season three so is that the time you take out before you go back to filming season 4?

Bridgit: Yes it is. And so I’ve already written the album so now it’s the time for me to promote it, and share it with the fans and get out there. So my single is coming out August 3rd, and after that, the album will be coming out in October and people can have the music I’ve been working on for the past year. So excited.

Sarah: We are excited here as well.

Bridgit: Thank you

Sarah: You’re welcome. Can you tell us a little about the album like what direction you went with it or any details that our readers would enjoy to hear?

Bridgit: Yeah, it’s kind of like a jazzy R&B funky pop thing going on. It’s hard to describe within one genre I feel. Maybe I’m just having a hard time describing it. It’s just really hard to pin down.

Sarah: Nothing wrong with that. You said that you planned to tour. Can you share any details of your upcoming tour or when we can expect it since it’s kind of under wraps right now.

Bridgit: I have four concert dates so far but besides that I’m hoping to that more in the winter and fall but it’s really to be determined. And we’re just kind of waiting to see how people respond to the music.

Sarah: Where do you see yourself ten years from now?

Bridgit: Well I really love the idea of doing movies and music and defining myself as an artist but I love the idea of once that I’m done with my career to maybe help people start their own and write and help them create their own musical idenity. And also I’d love to go to cooking school.

Sarah: That sounds like a great idea. I’m sure you would do good at it.

Bridgit: Laughs. Thank you.

Sarah: What would you like your next big project to be besides, obviously, your show and album?

Bridgit: Well I would love to work on a movie. I think that it would be fun to do something really different

Sarah: Any last words for your fans?

Bridgit: Thank you so much for the support, I can’t say it enough. And I’m so excited to continue this journey with you guys and have a wonderful summer.

Once again, I like to thank Bridgit Mendler and Target for allowing us to do the interview with her about this amazing campaign that she is part of.
