Disney Picks Cozi Zuehlsdorff, Dove Cameron and Others For Bits & Pieces

By on June 27, 2012

Disney Channel has announced their casting picks for the upcoming series Bits & Pieces. It is slated for release in 2013 and they have already chosen their new set of Disney star hopefuls. Benjamin King, Dove Cameron (Shameless) and Cozi Zuehlsdorff (Dolphin’s Tale) will all star in the new show. Disney released the name and show’s premise during April. Here is their description of what the new series will be about.

In the story, the family tree gets a whole lot bigger when high school basketball coach Pete marries the school psychologist Jodie, much to the chagrin of their four kids. Willful teenager Alanna recounts all the family moments through comedic vignettes, while her awkward brother Sticky and their new step siblings Crystal and Brody help fill in the bits and pieces as they begin their journey together as a new family.

It sounds like it will be a great series! Sort of reminds me of the old 90′s show Step By Step or for a newer show you may know, Drake and Josh. I have no doubt that it will be cute and funny, since their writers somehow know how to make it that way. One thing that I am curious about is who they will target the series with? I would think based on the premise that high school and middle school ages, but I was surpised by how young Austin & Ally‘s humor was so I am not sure what we can expect. I just hope that they do allow it to have more family friendly target in it.

Do you agree with their casting choices? I think they are interesting picks, but not unusual for Disney. They typically go with lesser-known people and turn them into stars, so they fit that profile. As for the premise, I am excited for it. It sounds like it will be a lot of fun to watch, if they make sure to execute it the right way. However, I am not going to worry too much since they do know how to pick their stars and shows pretty well according to their history. So we should have a lot of fun waiting for it to premiere next year.
