Taylor Kitsch or Armie Hammer To Play Finnick Odair?

By on May 30, 2012

Now that Robert Pattinson is out of question for the role of Finnick Odair in Catching Fire, the media is left wondering who will play him. E! Online claims that Armie Hammer, Taylor Kitsch, and Garrett Hedlund are in the top 3. They also claim that an announcement could come as soon as later on this week. However, this is all from a so called source who remains unnamed. Right now Lionsgate has remained hushed on their choice, while fans have been debating who the actor should be. Some suggest that they will find an unknown actor, while others suggest a famous one. Many of the series’ fans have suggested Armie, which is an interesting choice who does seem to fit the character pretty well in terms of a description. Here is what E! shared about the new rumor.

A source tells us at that the top three names being bantered about right now are Armie Hammer, Taylor Kitsch and Garrett Hedlund….However, another source says the studio may also be looking at unknowns à la Brad Pitt in Thelma & Louise

It sounds like Lionsgate is keeping their mouth hushed and it is driving the world crazy. Until they officially announce the actor, I think we can all say that we should trust their pick. Fans can be pleased to know that no Twilight star will be in it and that they are seeking for one who fits Finnick well. After the issues that they had with people complaining about Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss, I think they know that they have to pick someone that the fans will like or agree with. Plus with the new director taking over, I think they may actually have a chance at pleasing the bigger fans this time around.

How do you feel about one of these 3 guys playing Finnick? I think a lot of people would agree with it, but I know a lot of others are hoping for some big stars to fill in those shoes. Like some suggestions that I have seen was like Ian Somerhalder, which I disagree with myself. But some seem convinced that he would do a good job. I personally agree with Armie playing the role, he seems like the most solid bet. I can see him easily fitting in with rest of the cast and not letting down the fans. So I do hope that Lionsgate does consider him as their best bet, just because he sounds as if he fits the mold the very best that they can get.
