Robert Pattison Addresses Catching Fire Rumors

Robert Pattinson has answered the rumors about him being considered for the role of Finnick Odair, which sent many Catching Fire fans in a frenzy. He talked to USA Today about the rumors and he says that they have zero truth. He himself sounded pleased to know that he is not being considered the role. As we shared previously, he is sick of playing in teen mega hits, which Catching Fire will be. Here is what he told the magazine about the role and the funny story about how he came to find out about the rumor.

I woke up this morning and saw all these things about me being cast in The Hunger Games, was kind of curious for a second. So I called my agent. (My agent) was like no one’s going to offer you that part, I was like, thanks for the reassurance.

Now that is a story! I am glad that is happy about this, but I know some people won’t be. As a whole, most fans of the story will be pleased with this news. It is nice that he has chosen to come out and answer the reports, it should put to rest all of the rumors. However, I will say that it is weird that Lionsgate did not comment on it. The simple fact that he is not being considered could have been confirmed by them. It just makes no sense, unless Rob’s team is not in the known yet? That could be possible, but that would also be wearied to say at the least. I suppose all we should do is applaud Rob for opening up about the rumor.

Are you pleased with this news? I think most are. I have to say that I did find it strange after Lionsgate denied the stars of Twilight roles in this one and then to change their mind to offer Rob the role. It just makes no sense at if they were to do that. So it was sort of surprising, but at least we can all breath now. We can officially say Rob will not be involved in it, even though we still do not know who will be in the movie as Finnick. The feeling that they will cast someone who isn’t well known, sort of like how they did with Liam Hemsworth, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson. That would make sense and also be far, since we want to see new faces to become mega stars.
