Pepsi Introduces Salty Watermelon Pepsi In Japan

By on May 30, 2012

When it comes to trying out fresh inventive flavors, the Japanese don’t shy away from strange foods and this new Pepsi flavor is no exception. On July 24th, Pepsi will stock Japan food stores with a limited edition Salty Watermelon Pepsi.

Even more interesting? The responses on Twitter from America are rather positive! Here is one of those tweets:

@SweetAl: “If any of my friends in Japan are planning to swing thru SF this summer, hook me up with some Salty Watermelon Pepsi.”

Pepsi previously introduced Ice Cucumber flavor and people are predicting that this one is going to be a more popular choice.

I’ll admit that I like the idea of watermelon-flavored cola but I don’t get why anyone would add salt to a soft drink. Isn’t the purpose of drinking a soda beverage is to quench your thirst and salt does the exact opposite. Nonetheless, there must be a market for it and if it proves to be hot seller, Pepsi could bring this to the states.

What do you think of Pepsi’s new flavor? Do you think it sounds delicious and would you drink it? If you create your own new flavor for Pepsi or any other soft drink, what you it be and why?
