James Franco: Selena Gomez Wants To Shed Disney

Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens both have been struggling to shed their Disney image, so when they were given the chance to star in Spring Breakers they jumped in. James Franco also had a chance to talk about their need to play different characters during a recent red carpet trip for an art show. He talked about their desire for more movies that are independent and how he is happy that they were cast in the movie.

Here are his comments in support for the two girls.

I thought Harmony was so smart to cast her, Vanessa and Ashley because it seemed like they were so hungry for some deeper kind of material, hungry for indie material. They really gave their all when they were acting,” he continued. “You’ve got great performances.They other thing that [Harmony Korine] got was this crazy fusion of high pop and like dirty indie sensibilities. I think that is going to be very powerful.

It sounds like James is a major fan of the girls! I am sure that all of them are pleased that they landed such different roles than what they are used to. It might give Hollywood the needed light to give them some real roles that are challenging for them. After all, isn’t that what all stars want in the end? I would certainly think so! I know that I would want that if I was one.

How do you feel about his comments? I am glad that he offered them support, which I think shows that he knows acting is a tough job. I just hope that they will only have great things to say about him as well. It seems almost like he was a mentor for them, which is great news for them. He seems to be one of their biggest fans and I love that part of him. He has proven he can be a great support system for those who are needed a tiny bit more help.

   I absolutely love the fact that people, just like james franco are FINALLY letting go of her disney backgroud and noticing her actual potential, she has a load to offer and for certain deliver as well! Spring breakers & The getaway is for sure on my bucket list! Selena knows she had many older fans that have grown with her & we are full on supporting her, through think & thin SG! x
