Ian Somerhalder of Vampire Diaries Creates Animal Sanctuary

By on May 1, 2012

Ian Somerhalder is big on giving back and through his own foundation he is about to kick off his biggest one to date. During the IS Foundation Influence Affair he was caught up with to talk about IS Foundation. He admitted that he is working on an animal rescue project with them. He says that it will have triple features that max out the benefits for the project. Here is what he had to say about it and you can find out more about it from the video at the very bottom.

Our next giant project is this IS Farm. It’s going to be an animal sanctuary with a youth education camp. It will eventually become a green sustainable agricultural farm. It’s going to teach kids everything from compassion to animal protection to bio diversity to green sustainable agricultural practices. It’s going to be an incredible project.

I am glad to see that he is doing so much to help make a difference. It is far better to set the example and talk about it than to just preach it without following the advice. He does an amazing job on walking the walk for his fans. Hopefully soon enough we will know more about this great project and see examples of it. I think a lot of people can agree that he really is doing more than enough charity work at this stage.

How do you feel about his new project? Is it good for Ian to stay so involved in these projects? I say so, but I also think it is great that he is serious about sharing his passions. Best of all is that he isn’t using his fame for anything outside of good. I hope Ian Somerhalder can inspire his fans and teach how important it is to keep animals safe and alive. I love that he has chosen to work on this one and prove that no one is too good to help helpless creatures.
