2012 MTV Movie Awards Host Named: Russell Brand
Katy Perry’s ex Russell Brand will be hosting the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. The network announced the news and stated that he was the perfect one to pick. The show will air on June third. MTV and Russell both released statements about the exciting news for everyone involved. We’ll start by sharing Russell’s message that he told MTV News about the new gig.
MTV Movie Awards incorporates two of my favorite things. Movies and Awards. If somehow group sex could be involved it would be the greatest night of my life. This MTV Movie Awards will be more impressive than The Avengers and you won’t have to wait an hour for someone to Hulk out.
MTV released this following statement as well about Russell’s hosting gig.
He’s a movie star. He’s probably one of the most brilliant stand-ups that I’ve seen in his time, and he’s a rock star. He has amazing comedic chops. He’s brilliant. He touches all of the areas that I think are important to us. Add to that I think he’s one of the most professional people I’ve worked with in terms of comedians. He’s well-studied and very dedicated to his craft. I think we’re very fortunate that he said ‘yes.’
Poor Katy! While this is good for Russell’s career, it is not good news for Katy who has been trying to move on. It is a shame since she has so much talent in her and the fact that they are showing love for her ex-husband is pretty bad. However, she is a pro and I am sure she will be able to deal with it well enough. I just think that he really isn’t one of the most mature actors. He also hasn’t really had a major hit here except for Hop, which was an animated movie.
Are you looking forward to seeing him host? I am curious, but I don’t think that I will be tuning in. I am not crazy about him though. I don’t think he really has earned his right, even if MTV feels like he has. I am just hoping that he keeps some tact during the show and tries to avoid anything that might be ruthless. What do you guys hope from him during his hosting gig?
