FoxTrot Takes On The Hunger Games

By on April 24, 2012

Sunday comic strip FoxTrot has acknowledged the hit movie and book series, The Hunger Games. You can find the strip at GoComics. As for how it handled the topic, it was done in a very un-FoxTrot fashion. The comic typically mocks current pop culture hits, such as X-Files and StarTrek back in the 90s. No word on what made Bill Amend not to create a parody of the movie, but it should please fans around the world.

I am a fan of the movie/books and of course FoxTrot, so I am pleased to see they tackled it. I do wish we had more insight on why he didn’t do the parody. I am hoping that he does release a statement on that soon enough, since I am sure that I am not the only fan who is wondering why he did not do it. But I suppose in the end, it doesn’t take away any of the humor and slight truth. I am sure Katniss has enocouraged people to become more interested in archery again. I am sure that a lot of archer teachers and schools are pleased to see that the sport is no longer seen as a geeky one. That is good news for them and it also may prove that tamer sports are just as good as the more mainstream ones are.

How do you feel about the comic? Is it funny and tasteful or not? I think it was done in good taste. I do hope that they can go back to the path of them mocking pop culture items. That is what helped make the comic do as well as it has and I know that it has given so many people laughs for years. I hope that he hasn’t lost that touch he used to have. It would be such a shame if that is the case.
