One Direction Denies Nickelodeon TV Deal

By on March 21, 2012

Nickelodeon teased fans of One Direction that the network was developing a new show for the pop group, but the rumors are not true.

The guys of One Direction of course think otherwise.  In an interview with Vevo Ask : Reply, the guys said that they were not going to have a show on Nickelodeon.  Liam Payne explained that they are not doing a Nickelodeon show as they have decided to concentrate on the music.    The group is already a double-platinum sensation in the U.K. and was formed as they placed third in the seventh season of the X-Factor.  Just two weeks ago, few Americans who weren’t girls under the age 18 knew who One Direction was. This week, the group has the No. 1 album in the country.  The quick growth of the group’s fan base has been hastened by social media sites such as Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook. And response to One Direction’s personal appearances during the bands U.S. visits have been very fervent.

Their debut album Up All Night is poised to be released this week and everywhere they’ve been on their American tour has been a scene of pandemonium.  The passion surrounding the guys isn’t a far cry from the enthusiasm that has followed boy bands for decades.  What do you think of One Direction not taking a Nickelodeon deal?
